Here’s 30 minutes of commentated DA:I alpha build gameplay (uncut) from GameFront’s front row seat at one of the demo presentations at SDCC. They’re playing the female Qunari mage. We’ve seen the demo before but there are a few little new things in here if you squint hard - such as a quick shot of the Knight-Enchanter spec tree. I’ll update this post with these details soon, so you can check back here for the quick summation if you’d rather not sit through the video.
Edit: In the quest Journal there are two current quests, “The Hinterlands” and “The Inner Circle”. We can see the description of the latter: “An Inquisition is nothing without it’s Inner Circle of power brokers and battle masters. Recruiting talent and strengthening your ties with them is all but essential if you are to succeed.”
We’ve seen as much before, but here’s a look at the radial pull-up menu which contains commands like heal, summon mount and hold position.
Here’s a look at various talent trees I can’t recall seeing before (in contrast we’ve seen things like Spirit and Double Daggers before) - from left to right, Entropy, Discord, Discipline and Knight-Enchanter. We may have seen Entropy before (shoddy memory, sorry!) but the other three are definitely new.
Jessica mentions ogres as enemies.
New loading screen we haven’t seen before. It contains what appears to be some lore: “The people of the Qun are, perhaps, the least-understood group in Thedas. The Qunari Wars were brutal, but so was the Chantry Schism. So was the fall of the Imperium. Some of this misunderstanding is an accident of nature: The race we call ‘Qunari’ are formidable. Nature has given them fierce horns and strange eyes, and the ignorant look on them and see monsters”. It appears to be writtern from an in-universe perspective (Brother Genetivi?) At any rate I hope the Inquisitor featured changes depending on your PC, like I don’t wanna be playing a female elf PC and a male human is shown in the loading screens.
"There might be stuff here we can use" [paraphrase] Sera helpfully chipsin as we enter Redcliffe Castle. Good to know party members will point stuff like that out.
gads i wish we knew who voiced Viv and dorian!!
"The Elder one demands answers" cries the torturer as he beats on Leliana - I’m sure we’ve heard this before but it’s ominous nonetheless.
if we choose to send leli in here and she gets tortured we’re going to have to make it up to her, Jessica implies. [yes I know we knew the action has a lasting impact on your relationship with her]
"try to take out that enchanter quickly" thanks helpful dorian
"a mark etched into your flesh by unknown magic [our glowing hand]… if you can push back the demonic wards, this mark allows you to seal [or feel?] the rifts"
